创作背景

《Someone Like You》的创作灵感来自于阿黛尔自身的一段破碎恋情，歌曲中讲述的是她慢慢接受并开始走出这段恋情。阿黛尔在听说前男友结婚的消息后写下了这首歌曲，并用木吉他作为乐器完成了歌曲的初始版本，而歌曲的最终版本是以钢琴作为伴奏。  
《Someone Like You》的歌词和简谱由阿黛尔·阿德金斯和丹·威尔逊进行撰写，并由两人负责音乐制作，歌曲的混音处理由汤姆·艾姆赫斯特进行。

《Someone Like You》的旋律优美而忧伤，这首歌不仅在向人们诉说着失恋的痛苦，同时也告诉人们要勇敢去追寻爱情，即使最后爱情破碎也要勇敢走下去。在歌曲中不时地出现类似倚音的装饰音。歌曲的节奏在开始时很轻柔，曲调是重复性的，阿黛尔将旋律保持在一个很窄的频率范围内，歌词深情而克制。当进入副歌部分时，阿黛尔的嗓音升高了八度，声音也越来越响亮。和声出现了变化，歌词也更加感人。  在《Someone Like You》中，阿黛尔用伤感的声音告诉我们，那些让你铭记的爱情都是带着伤痛的，即使那么多年过去，我们也希望爱过的人依然记得自己。

《Someone Like You》的MV在2011年9月27日进行拍摄，并在法国巴黎取景，由杰克·纳瓦指导拍摄。MV运用了黑白的背景衬托出这首伤心情歌的意境，在MV中，阿黛尔独自一人走在法国的大街上，边走边唱着这首伤心情歌。在MV的后半段，阿黛尔停止歌唱并暂停在亚历山大三世桥来眺望着塞纳河，然后她继续独自在街上行走最后进入大楼，而这时她正望着她的前男友。这支MV还将巴黎的埃菲尔铁塔列为背景之一。
